From Euro-American perspective: For decade’s artist’s success and popularity as well as personal gainevaluated are by the performances and artist’s presence in Western European or American art situations.
Paradigm as this is a reason ART is somehow losing its universality.
Project “The same rain, same wind” has the intention to start the broader planetary discussion on the purpose and impact of visual and multimedia art. On the common, collective, selected, thematic exhibitions in Thailand, I would like artists from Europe together with artists from Indochina (Thailand and Singapore) toreflect about a topic that both sides understand and feel. In a joint exhibition as a parallel slalom, we will find two groups of artists, facing art work and multimedia work in the form of dialogue. One group will be the hosts
- the authors from Thailand and Singapore and the second group will be composed of authors from Europe. Inthis way we want to disclose our work to the observers that perceive the world around them self’s differently than us. In the same time we want to see artist’s work from Thailand regarding and discussing the same topic. The meeting -this joint exhibition will take place first at the Art Center in Chiang Mai in Thailand. The place is chosen because of its representative and impressive area dimension, the museum is equipped with several large halls size of hundreds square meters, located on two floors.
The global approach questioning regards and issues of art and artistic act will be no easy, mainly of course because of financial reasons. But, with little acceptance and understanding of the surrounding institutions,host’s, exhibitors and with authors efforts I am sure we are starting an interesting dialog on ideas anddesign, discussing the world we live in.
The initial consideration to the issue:
Reflecting on issue that could be interesting to our authors and authors from Thailand /
Singapore I would really like us to clearly understand each other on the idea of the project. So, as a
general topic I suggest: Ecology.
I dare to assume we all have a sense of how aggressively we are using our natural resources. We are all conscious that with electricity, wireless phones, internet and similar technology solutions we powerfully reached in the energy field of the atmosphere. We are aware that the use of gasoline, plant fertilizers, the airplane flights engine residue that are bothering flying birds, as well as various soaps and detergents and many others similar situations are interfering our environment. Also lately, we are aware of a strange unknown newborn diseases escaping from different labs. Finally, I suppose that we are aware how minority political interest groups are trying to subordinate common people and usually they offer the least possible equivalent to the invested work.
Clearly, the visual design of our colleagues who live on the other side of the globe is characterized by a variety of different aesthetic, philosophical, religious, life basses and values.
There are differences in conceptions of the universe, the meaning of life and death experience.
As curator, I would not want to impose the European situation and the local ways of artistic interpretation, although the part of the works of local authors certainly handles such features.
Although we live on the same earth, different history shaped the course our/their way of life and way and thinking a little differently. Euro-American mindset is aggressive and sets measures by its standards. I would like to confront a variety of technological and meaningful approaches to product design on the same basic topic.
As much as we experience our planet as of great size – we have to remember – it is only one available to us, and on this planet of ours we are all very close and depending on each other. The same rain falls and the same wind blows here and there.
Unfortunately, the political globalization has become a mask for monetary exploitation and
oppression of those parts of the earth that have a different approach, attitude, beliefs and convictions of the euro american one. “The same rain, same wind” – as global art festival should yield a better understanding of each other with no imposition of views, ideas, forms of life. ECOLOGY, concepts and benchmarks for discussion:
The following describes the issues that should serve as an engine for reflection to all of
the authors that should lead to crystallizing a possible title or definitive name and other
possible topics for this project.
Science of ecology implies a relationship of nature, plants, water, air, and earth, everything
around us including the people who surround us. And ,of course – ourselves to.
Ecology is the science of nature, the study about relationship between all living organisms.
Ecology focuses on their relation and impact on the environment as well as the environmental impact of the natural beings. Ecology has developed as a branch of biology, so other than those of biology, uses discovering and knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and many other natural sciences. The usual classification of areas of interest in ecology, ranging from the lowest level of complexity of interrelationships, where complexity is defined as the number of entities and processes within the system being studied. There is also the study of animal behavior in adapting to the environment, such as the dynamics of reproduction of certain species. Furthermore, there is a studying of interactions between species within a certain community. Ecology studies the flows of matter and energy through the biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems. Area of system ecology is an interdisciplinary field that focused on research, development and organization of ecological systems from a holistic perspective. Visually interesting area is landscape ecology,which studies the processes and connections between different areas of an ecosystem. There is also an area of evolutionary ecology that deals with the evolutionary history of species and their interactions. Although the term of ecology is often incorrectly used to describe activities related to protection nature, this project aims to raise an issue on that topic too.
Within topic on ecology, using artistic tools, I imply questioning the relationship beyond sense,mystical or religious thinking and interpersonal relationships. That is because regardless we are all alienated from nature we are still a natural living beings.

Project planned implementation :
>Authors from Europe:
-during the months of October and November of 2011. The authors from Europe are sending to thecurator for review sketches, concepts the ideas for artwork. Curator is dealing and making arrangements with each author personally. The last date to send the papers in is 15th of November 2011.
-Ad the end of December of 2011. Authors from Europe are traveling to Thailand. There will be no transportation of finished art work, but the author has personally on the spot to do his work for the exhibition!
-During the month of January of 2012th year, on-site works are realized. There are available spaces at the local Fine Arts Academy with accompanying equipment.
>Authors of Thailand, Singapore:
-The local curators are working with authors and selecting the works based on agreed terms.
-Curator (Europe, Thailand, Singapore) are continually communicating electronically.
>In Thailand: Is to be created a common problem- rising exhibition presentation of arrived and realized work. Although the initial theme of artistic creations the field of ecology, curators, on the ground, during the first month of the 2012th, in Thailand, are allowed with agreement to define the final shape of the project.
-The artwork is to be photographed, text to be formatted, as well as catalog and accompanying
material.
-Printed catalog materials
-diplomatic missions and the Ministry of Culture are to be informed on the artists who participate in the transcontinental multimedia visual art project.
-Joint exhibition at the Art Center in Chiang Mai in, Thailand is planned for 1 II. 2012.
-Opening of the exhibition, a guided tour through the exhibition and the world media promotion takes place during the month of February of 2012.
-During 2013. Year, authors from Thailand and Singapore are guests in Europe with a similar
scenario.
-Project successively can join other civilized circles (Africa, China, India …)
หลักการ และเหตุผล :
โครงการนิทรรศการ “The Same Rain The Same Wind 2012” Intercontinental, intercultural, multimedia art project เป็นการจัดสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการและแสดงนิทรรศการ ศิลปะจากศิลปินกลุ่มประเทศยุโรปตะวันออก อเมริกา อิตาลี่ สิงคโปร์ อินเดีย และประเทศไทย ซึ่งเป็นการรวมวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยจากภูมิภาคต่างๆมาร่วมกันเพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนทัศนคติ ปรัชญา แนวคิด ความเชื่อ อันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ของแต่ละประเทศ และเรียนรู้ผ่านการสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการผลงานด้านประติมากรรม จิตรกรรม ศิลปะการแสดงสด และศิลปะการจัดวาง และผ่านวัสดุเทคนิคพื้นถิ่นของเชียงใหม่
เมืองเชียงใหม่เป็นเมืองที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ไปด้วยภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น หัตถศิลป์เช่น งานกระดาษสา งานแกะสลักไม้ งานดุนโลหะ และงานจักสาน การที่ศิลปินมาสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการในพื้นที่ของเชียงใหม่เช่น.บ้านต้นเปา บ้านวัวลาย ย่อมมีการแลกเปลี่ยน ความรู้ ทักษะ วิทยาการระหว่างกลุ่มงานร่วมสมัยและงานศิลปะพื้นถิ่นให้มีการพัฒนาทั้งความคิดและเทคนิคแล้วยังเป็นการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสร้างสรรค์ในมิติวัฒนธรรมของจังหวัดเชียงใหม่เพิ่มขึ้นอีกแนวทางหนึ่ง
ดังนั้นเพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวแบบบูรณาการร่วมกับศิลปวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย ทางสาขาวิชาประติมากรรม ภาควิชาภาพพิมพ์ จิตรกรรมและประติมากรรม คณะวิจิตรศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ จึงได้เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญและจัดให้มีการ สัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการและนิทรรศการศิลปกรรมร่วมสมัยนี้ขึ้น โดยได้รับความร่วมมือจากกลุ่มศิลปินที่มีความรู้ ความสามารถ และประสบการณ์การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานระดับแนวหน้าจากอารยประเทศเข้าร่วมในสัมมนาและปฏิบัติการสร้างสรรค์ศิลปะในครั้งนี้
