In 2023, Padungsak Kochsomrong presented his work, Consideration Area, at the Nakanojo Biennale.
Through travel, he connects with diverse cultures, blending artistic expression with social issues, viewpoints, and critical reflections.
His work encourages questioning, satire, and personal interpretation, fostering exchanges of ideas.
Travel deepens our understanding of human connections and the natural and social diversity surrounding us.
By removing biases and preconceptions, balance can be achieved, allowing for coexistence based on mutual respect.
He compares this idea to the relationship between the sun and the moon—two celestial bodies vital to human life in different ways, symbolizing prosperity, joy, sorrow, rebirth, and the cycle of day and night. Though they never merge, they sustain life through their unique roles, acknowledging each other’s significance without diminishing their own.
Similarly, in human interactions, unity should not come at the cost of suppressing individuality.
Instead, true harmony comes from embracing both flexibility and resilience, adapting to time, place, and circumstances while staying mindful of one’s purpose.
These insights stem from his journeys, where meeting people from different backgrounds has allowed him to appreciate their distinct strengths and beauty—continuously inspiring his artistic practice.

The Nakanojo Biennale is a biennial international contemporary art festival held in Nakanojo Town, Gunma Prefecture. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes, Ramsar wetlands, historic hot spring villages, and rich cultural traditions like sericulture, festivals, and folk arts, Nakanojo provides a unique setting for artistic exploration.
Participating artists reside and create within the local mountain communities, presenting their works during the festival.
As the event prepares for its tenth edition in 2025, the Nakanojo Biennale welcomes artists from Japan and around the world, encouraging innovative ideas across various disciplines.
