Student VISA extension Guideline

A. Important Information for Students

  1. Visa Matters Are Personal Responsibilities.
    Each student is responsible for knowing their own visa expiration date.
  2. 45Day Rule for Visa Renewal.
    According to immigration regulations, students shall renew their visas up to 45 days before their current visa expires.
    Applications submitted earlier than this will not be processed by the immigration office.
  3. Student Responsibilities for Visa Renewal.
    You are responsible for paying the visa renewal fee and submitting the documents provided by the university to the Immigration Office yourself.
  4. Visa Renewal Must Be Done in Chiang Mai.
    As a Chiang Mai University student, you must renew your visa at the Chiang Mai Immigration Office only. Applications cannot be submitted to other provincial offices.”
  5. New Regulations for Noned PlusStudents.
    Students who have extended their visa to the “noned Plus type no longer need to apply for a “re-entry permit” with immigration officials when temporarily leaving Thailand.

B. Set of Documents for extend your student VISA (Noned, Noned Plus)
*Please arrange the documents in the following order.

1 Fill out the Form: TM.7 (2 pages)

Need 1 photo (2” Size) attached on the form

2 Fill out the form: STM.2 (1 page)
Acknowledgement of term and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the kingdom of Thailand
3 Fill out the form: The Acknowledgement of Penalties for Visa Overstay (1 page)
4 Fill out the form: STM.11  (1 page)

Consent Form for Fact-Checking and Information Verification of Application for Visa or Change of Visa Type or Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom

5 Head letter from CMU Vice President
6 Student’s status certify letter
7 Summary of Student’s information
8 Copy of the 1st page of passport
9 Copy of the passport:

VISA page received from the embassy/consulate before coming to Thailand

*or E-VISA

10 Copy of the latest stamp on your passport
11 Copy of TM.30**

** A form used in Thailand for the notification of residence of foreigners.  It’s a legal requirement for landlords, house owners, or property managers to report the stay of the non-Thai national residing on their property.

Student can ask from the house/apartment owner/condominium manager for the TM.30”

12 Copy of Student’s Studies progress report / or / receipt of tuition fee for students who are in the first year and currently in their first semester
13 Copy of Program Curriculum
